The dust bin is expected to last for around 30 loads or a month and half. You'll need to replace the filter periodically (as suggested by iRobot). The iRobot S9+ is not very loud when it's in use making it a great choice for families with children or pets.

They're a great choice for busy families, and they are becoming more affordable. But if you want top-tech features in your robotic cleaner, you'll have to spend a bit more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuum and mopping machine is an excellent choice for those living in a multi-floored apartment. Its dual motors give it incredible cleaning power, and the vacuum's 0.6l dustbin can hold plenty of pet hair. The dustbin can be taken away and emptied easily this is important since you'll have to do it often.
It's also easy to set it up, but I would recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid prior to running it for the first time. You'll need to install the Eufy Home app and follow the instructions to connect it to your Wi-Fi network. The app will help you draw an outline of your home. Rooms can be named and divide rooms into sub-rooms (good for open-plan living) and direct the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that need cleaning at a given time. Other robots also have similar scanning and mapping functions, but Eufy's app feels more refined and intuitive than the other.
One of the great features of the X8 Hybrid is that you can start the mop or vacuum using your voice, thanks to integration with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. This is a nice feature that makes the robot even more hands-free, and it is working well in our test home.
Like many robotic vacuums, the X8 Hybrid has some issues with bare floors. It can miss pet hair and other small objects, and it is prone to get into things, like its own charger on the base for charging. It's not as quiet and the whirring sound can be distracting as other models.
Roborock V3S Pro
This model isn't as feature-rich as some of the more expensive models we've tested however, it does have all the essentials. It has a big enough dust bin that can hold a lot of dirt before it needs emptying, and its mop and vacuum system is perfect for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It's also quiet. We could watch TV while it cleaned without feeling like we were being constantly bombarded by the sound.
Our testers were impressed by how simple it was to set up and use, and were impressed with its ability to take all the mess off their floors. It also did a good job of picking up pet hair and messes on carpeting, though it was less successful in removing stubborn stains. The app was simple to use and intuitive. It was able to set up the vacuum to clean frequently to reduce the amount of manual work. It doesn't have the ability to avoid objects or map technology, so it can't be able to be directed to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundaries work).
Another model from the iRobot's budget line that is the V3S Pro has some impressive features for the price. It topped all other robot vacuums we tested when it comes to mapping and avoiding obstacles, and it's the best budget pick for those who want an intelligent self-emptying robot vacuum that is able to handle pet hair and messes both on hardwood floors and low-pile carpeting. It is also very quiet and comes with a large dust bin which check here can hold plenty of debris before it needs to be emptied.
The V3S Pro did not make it onto any of our top picks lists of trusted sources who perform hands-on tests, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They liked the ease of set up and use, however they did note that its battery life is very short and it was unable to stay clear of some of the most stubborn problems we've encountered.
